A Family Day in Eden
Escaping to Eden for your next family holiday? Plan a weeks’ worth of day trips or beach adventures or follow our schedule to help you settle into the eat-explore-sleep-repeat daily grind, while keeping the kids active!
Are you kids early risers? Make the most of the morning and head off to explore some of the native gardens in Eden before it gets too hot. Discover the Whale Dreaming Trail, an accessible 600m walk through the beautiful gardens of Eden, leading you to an epic lookout over Twofold Bay, the coastal gateway to the Bundian Way. Make sure you and the kids have their eyes peeled for passing whales, it’s not called the Whale Dreaming Trail for nothing!

After returning from the Twofold Bay look-out, you can continue walking up towards the other end of Imlay Street and on to the Eden Killer Whale Museum. Operating for over 85 years, the museum exhibits the town’s vast history of whaling. Looking over the Pacific Ocean, it is home to one of the only orca skeletons in the world – Old Tom, said to be the leader of a pod of Killer Whales. A must see in Eden, the museum will keep both you and kids entertained for hours!

After learning about the king of sea all morning, you will have definitely worked up a bit of an appetite. Take a much-needed lunch break and drop into one of favourite local places, Sprout Eden, a delicious café wholeheartedly supporting local producers since opening their doors in 2012. Their extensive menu is guaranteed to please even the fussiest of eaters, so you won’t have to worry about the kids going hungry. Make sure to have a wander around their market section before you leave and pick up a few treats for the road!

Full and happy from a delicious lunch, it’s time for some sunshine and a swim! Head down to Aslings Beach for an afternoon of splashing in the shallows with the little ones and watching the bigger kids catch their first wave. Fully patrolled in the summer, Aslings is the perfect beach spot for families! Whales and dolphins are often seen right along the shoreline so you might be lucky enough to spot some.
